Itinerary

DAY 1. BILBAO AIRPORT – BILBAO

Arrival to the airport and transfer to the hotel in Bilbao for over- night stay.

DAY 2. BILBAO – CASTRO URDIALES – SANTANDER

After breakfast, we will visit Bilbao with our local guide, we will see the Plaza Nueva, enclosed by 64 graceful arches, the XVI century Basílica de Begoña, and the city’s main attraction, the Guggenheim Museum (entrance included). In the afternoon, we will have a walk through the port in Castro Urdiales, where we will also see the remains of the Castle, and the Gothic Santa María church. Lunch by the costumer and then we will then continue on to Santander, and take a stroll along the Paseo de Pereda, with its typical windowed balcony houses. The nearby Cathedral, opposite the Plaza Porticada, dates from the XII century. Overnight in Santander.

DAY 3. SANTILLANA DEL MAR – SAN VICENTE DE LA BARQUERA – OVIEDO

Breakfast. In the morning, we will drive to Santillana del Mar, the living museum of a medieval village which grew around the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana (entrance included). We continue to San Vicente de la Barquera, paying special attention to the Castle and city walls from the VIII century, and the Church of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, built between the XII and XVI century. Lunch by the costumer and In the afternoon, we arrive at Oviedo, and we suggest a walk around the old part of the town with our lo- cal guide, visiting the Romanesque San Vicente’s Monastery, the Cathedral and the Holy Chamber (entrance included). Overnight in Oviedo.

DAY 4. PICOS DE EUROPA – CANGAS DE ONÍS – COVADONGA – OVIEDO

After breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to the Picos de Europa National Park, where we will enjoy the incredible beauty of its mountains and valleys. Free time for lunch by the costumer and in the afternoon we will also visit Cangas de Onís, Bridge and the Church of Santa Cruz, built in 733. We continue to Covadonga, a historic and religious centre, with the Santuario as the main attraction. We will return to Oviedo.

DAY 5. GIJÓN – LUARCA – RIBADEO – LUGO

After breakfast our journey today takes us to Gijón. The Roman baths bear witness to the city’s historical importance, as does the old quarter, with its XVI century Valdés Palace or the XVII century Collegiate Church of San Juan. Lunch by the costumer and In the afternoon, we continue via Luarca, declared the most beautiful village on the Green Coast of Asturias, to Ribadeo, a marine and tourist enclave, where we will discover San Damián Fort, the Dos Santos bridge, and the stunning Cathedrals Beach. Overnight at the hotel in Lugo.

6 LUGO – MONFORTE DE LEMOS – OURENSE

This morning we will visit Lugo after breakfast at the hotel, surrounded by its famous Roman walls. We will take a walk around the old town, and see the Cathedral, and the Plaza del Campo, a typical square of Roman origin with a Baroque fountain in its centre. We will drive via Monforte de Lemos, where we will see the neoclassical Monastery of San Vicente do Pino, the castle, and the Nosa Señora da Antiga School, with Herrerian design. Lunch by the costumer and then we will continue to Ourense, where we suggest a visit to the Cathedral and the famous Burgas thermal fountain. We will stay in Ourense.

DAY 7. RIBADAVIA – BAIONA – PONTEVEDRA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the historic Jewish quarter of medieval Ribadavia. We will continue to Baiona, a charming village with its stunning Conde de Gondomar Fortress. Baiona was Christopher Columbus’s first stop in Spain after discovering the New Continent and we can see a replica of the Pinta in the docks. In the afternoon, we will be able to admire Pontevedra’s beautiful monumental area, the Virgen Peregrina church, and the Plaza de la Herrería. Then we will drive to Santiago for overnight.

DAY 8. SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

Breakfast. Today we will enjoy a guided tour of the Santiago de Compostela Old Town with a local guide. The most outstanding monuments are The Cathedral (entrance included with audio-guide), the Pazo de Gelmírez, the Plaza del Obradoiro, etc. Lunch by the costumer and in the afternoon, we will have free time to take a stroll through the charming alleys and ancient streets of the city. Overnight at the hotel in Santiago.

DAY 9. A CORUÑA

After breakfast, we will have a guided tour of A Coruña, known as the Crystal City. We will take a panoramic walk through the Castle of San Antón, the Old Town, the Plaza de María Pita and the Torre de Hércules (entrance included), world’s oldest Roman light house still working. After lunch time (by the costumer), we suggest a walk along the seaside promenade, and a visit to the Méndez Núñez Gardens or the Millennium Obelisk. We will drive to the hotel for overnight stay in A Coruña

DAY 10. SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTEL AIRPORT

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Santiago de Compostela airport. End of our services.
