PORTUGUESE CASTLES AND ABBEYS 6 DAYS

DAY 1. LISBON AIRPORT – BATALHA – LEIRIA

Arrival at the designated airport and departure towards Batalha. Where we can contemplate the Monastery of the Battle (exterior), it was built in commemoration of the 1385 Battle of Aljubarrota, and would serve as the burial church of the 15th Century Aviz dynasty of Portuguese royals. It is one of the best and original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal, intermingled with the Manueline style. Lunch by the costumer, check-in at the Hotel in Leiria or surroundings and accommodation.

DAY 2. ALCOBAÇA – NAZARÉ – ÓBIDOS – AVEIRO

Breakfast at the Hotel and in the morning we will visit Alcobaça where we can see the Alcobaça Abbey (entrance included). After the visit we continue to Nazaré where we can have lunch (by the costumer) and enjoy an amazing view from the Sitio «headland”, one of the most amazing Portugal views, La Ermita de la Memoria, Nuestra señora de Nazaré church. Lunch by the customer and in the afternoon we continue our journey towards Óbidos, one of the Portugal most beautiful towns, where we can visit Dom Dinis Castle, and Santa María Church with a spectacular tile decoration. Arrival at the hotel in Aveiro and accommodation.

DAY 3. AVEIRO – COIMBRA – LISBON

Breakfast at the Hotel and in the morning we will visit Aveiro, part of the city is bathed through canals, bridges, and painted boats called moliceiros, similar to the gondolas of Venice. For this reason, the city is called the «Portuguese Venice». We have the chance today to board in one of them (optional). Lunch in reserved restaurant in Aveiro and in the afternoon we continue our route to Coímbra. With our local guide we can visit this city that is the third largest urban centre in Portugal. Its historical buildings were classified as a World He- ritage site by UNESCO in 2013, site of the country’s greatest University for the past five centuries; here we can visit Joanina Library and the medieval town. Arrival at the Hotel in Lisbon and accommodation.

DAY 4. LISBON

Breakfast at the Hotel and today our local guide will take us today through Lisboa most beautiful places, such as Central Station with its amazing façade, Rossio, Comercial Square, and The Sé Vella, Jerónimos Monastery (ticket included), the Monument to the discoveries and the Belém Tower (entrance included). Lunch by the customer and in the afternoon we can enjoy some free time to discover the city. Return to the Hotel and accommodation.

DAY 5. TOMAR – ALMOUROL CASTLE – FÁTIMA – LISBON

Breakfast at the Hotel and in the morning we start our journey towards Tomar. Here we can visit the amazing Castle and the famous Convento do Cristo. Then we continue to Almourol, where will be amazed with its templar Castle. Lunch in a reserved restaurant and in the afternoon we get the chance to visit Fátima, with the important Sanctuary in Cova da Iria; is the principal focus of visitors. Annually pilgrims regularly fill the country roads leading to the shrine. We also make a brief stop to visit Aljustrel, where the 3 seers born. Back to the hotel in Lisbon and accommodation.

DAY 6. LISBOA – LISBON AIRPORT

Breakfast at the Hotel and depending of the flight Schedule, we will have time to continue discovering the city. Transfer to the airport, end of the tour our services.
