Itinerary
DAY 1. MADRID AIRPORT – OVIEDO – VILLAVICIOSA
Arrival at the airport and departure to Asturias. Our first stop for today is Oviedo where we stroll along the old town. Then time for lunch in a local restaurant to taste one of the Asturias typical dishes: Fabada. In the afternoon we continue to Llagar Cortina in Villaviciosa where we get to see the cider elaboration process; at the end of the visit you can enjoy a cider tasting session. Check in at the Hotel in Oviedo and accommodation.
DAY 2. LASTRES – GIJON – OVIEDO
Breakfast. We move to Lastres, beautiful fishing villaje. We stroll the town center along the port, the church and the Clock Tower. Lunch in a typical restaurant and in the afternoon we have the opportunity to go on a panoramic sightseeing tour through Gijón. The Plaza Mayor, San Lorenzo Walk and Cimadevila park are the main sights to visit. Now we can enjoy some free time to discover the city. It’s dinner time, we get the chance today to enjoy a «Espicha» dinner. Asturian style food accompanied with Asturian cider. This kind of dinner has become very fashionable nowadays, arising from the celebration that was done on the winepress on the day the cider was made. Food such as cured Iberian pork products, tortilla or squid are never missed on the dinner table. Return to the hotel in Oviedo and accommodation.
DAY 3. ORTEGAL REGION (LOIBA, ESPASANTE – ORTIGUEIRA) – A CORUÑA
Breakfast. We start our journey towards Galicia. Our first stop in the Ortegal region would be «Banco de Loiba» consider «the best bench in the world” and the Espasante Port where we can lunch in a restaurant a typical Rías Altas menú, scrambled fish and seafood cocktail. In the afternoon we continue to Ortigueira where we can walk along its old town, Santa Marta Church, the Town Hall, site in a Dominican Monastery, and The Beneficencia Theatre. We continue our trip to Coruña. Hotel and accommodation in A Coruña.
DAY 4. FERROL / MUGARGOS, REDES
Breakfast at the Hotel and today we start our journey towards Ferrol. Our local guide will take us around the Naval Museum (entrance included), spectacular naval base since S.XVIII, The Magdalena district, with buildings that are real treasure from the Galician architect Rodolfo Ucha. We continue to the Captaincy Gardens, with great views of the military shipyards. We move to Mugardos, a fishermen town, where we can taste in restaurante the famous «Pulpo a la mugardesa» (octopus specialty). In the afternoon, we walk around Mugardo’s old town and then we continue to Redes. In this picturesque fishermen village, it is an example of sustainable architecture since 2007. DAY 5. SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA / A CORUÑA
Breakfast. Our local guide will take us for a tour to Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Ga- licia. The city’s Old Town was designated a la UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. This year the town celebrates «The Jubilee of Mercy». The holy Door remains open during this jubilee year. Lunch by the costumer in one of the typical restaurants of the area and in the afternoon we continue to A Coruña for a free afternoon to discover this amazing city. At the agreed time we have the opportunity to enjoy a «Mariscada” (seafood platte). Return to the Hotel and accommodation
DAY 6. ASTORGA – MADRID AIRPORT
Breakfast. In our final day we get the chance to visit Astorga. Our local guide will take us to the Gothic Cathedral from the XII century and the Episcopal Palace, one of Gaudi’s works. Then we move to Polvazares Castle to taste a «Cocido Maragato»(Maragato stew) in a restaurant. Stew made of vegetable leafs, chick peas and 7 kind of meat. Then we can enjoy some free time to discover this picturesque village. Departure to the designated airport, end of the tour and our services
