DAY 1. MADRID AIRPORT – LA RIOJA

Arrival at Airport. The group meets with both escorted guide and coach for transfer to Logroño. Accommodation in hotel in Logroño.

DAY 2. LOGROÑO – SANTO DOMINGO DE LA CALZADA – NÁJERA – LOGROÑO

After breakfast, our journey starts with a sightseeing tour to Santo Domingo de la Calzada, one of the Rioja towns most deeply marked by the Pilgrim’s Route to Santiago de Compostela. It was declared a National Historic Interest Site, store a valuable heritage, particularly its walls, the Cathedral and the old Pilgrims Hospital, the emblazoned houses of the calle Mayor, the City Hall and the Convent of San Francisco. Lunch by the customer. Go on our journey to Nájera. The most outstanding monument the Monastery of Santa María La Real (entrance included), its fortress-like external appearance contrasts with the ornamental beauty of the cloister of the Caballeros (knights), so-called because of the great many nobles buried here. The Royal Pantheon, bearing the tombs of some thirty monarchs. Accommodation in hotel in Logroño.

DAY 3. MONASTERIES ROUTE (VALVANERA, SUSO AND YUSO) – LOGROÑO

Breakfast at the Hotel and start our trip towards Valvanera Monastery, a sanctuary located 1,000 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountain peaks and innumerable forests. The best preserved buildings are the Romanesque Tower and the church. Lunch by the customer. We continue to visit The monasteries of San Millán de Suso (6th century) and San Millán de Yuso (11th century) both in the village of San Millán de la Cogolla (entrances included). DAY 4. LOGROÑO – LAGUARDIA – HARO – LOGROÑO

After breakfast, our local guide will take us on a tour around Logroño, a city rich in history and tradition which have been preserved since the Middle Ages. The Pilgrim’s Route to Santiago de Compostela made this one of the most important towns on the route, leaving an interesting monumental legacy. We point out th Cathedral of Santa María la Redonda, whose baroque towers rise above the Market square. Free time for lunch or walking around Laurel Street, where you can taste the traditional “pintxos” (snacks) and local wines. In the afternoon we continue our journey to Laguardia, named after its strategic location against Castile in the Middle Ages. Santa Maria de los Reyes church (entrance included), the Abacial Tower, and the wine cellars are the main points of interest. You have the opportunity to walk through a wine cellar followed by a tasting (included). To finish your journey you visit Haro, it has an important architectural heritage, like the Santo Tomás Church, Nuestra Señora de la Vega Basilica, numerous palaces, and the old town. DAY 5. VITORIA / SALT VALLEY OF AÑANA – VITORIA

Breakfast. Today we move to Basque Country. Vitoria is the capital city of the Basque Autonomous Community. We point out The Palacio de Escoriaza-Esquivel, the gothic Cathedral of Santa María (entrance included), the new one, and the old town which holds some of the best preserved medieval streets and plazas in the region. Lunch by the customer. Go on our route to the «Valle Salado de Añana” (entrance included), The Salt Valley is one of the most spectacular and best preserved in- land saltworks in the world. Its value not only lies in its particular architecture or on its almost 6.500 years of history, or even in its geological features, biodiversity or landscape values, but in the union in perfect harmony of all of it in a privileged context. DAY 6. VITORIA – MADRID AIRPORT

Breakfast at the hotel or take away, depending on our departure time. Transfer to Airport. End of our Services
