CASTILLA LEON

Behind history tracks

Castilla and Leon has every single ingredient to make us enjoy the silence, give a break of spirit, breath fresh air and eat great food. This community has been a meeting point for people and varied culture. And that’s why today it is crossed by lots of paths and millennial tracks, just as the “Camino de Santiago” (Saint James Way), declared European Cultural Itinerary and undoubtedly the most famous and busy of them all. It is also remarkable the “Ruta del Duero”, that follows the river course. Duero River is a main artery of Castilla and Leon, and highly visited not only because of the beauty of the landscapes but also because of its rich and varied gastronomy and their great wine offer under the protection of the Denominacion de Origen (PDO) Ribera del Duero. Those paths will show the visitor nature spots, lots of ecosystems, lakes, lush valleys, fountains and medicinal water. Also remarkable are Picos de Europa, Sierra de Gredos and the mountain range of Sierra de la Demanda and Sierra de Ancares.

Visitors shouldn’t miss the opportunity as well to know by first-hand the solemn Burgos Cathedral, and later visit the Archaelogical Site of Atapuerca.

To fortresses lovers, there are as well the millennial Alcázar de Segovia, La Mota Castle in Medina del Campo (Valladolid), and Ampudia Castle in Palencia. They are the finest examples of those glorious signs left during the historic past of this Community.
